Blogging
I haven’t been blogging much lately; things have been quite busy.
I will leave this blog active for the time being, for SEO purposes.
If I decide to blog again, I will probably just add it to my website, http://marcusdietz.com.

I just ordered a long overdue 4GB RAM kit for my MacBook Pro. I’ve noticed that my 2GBs just have not been cutting it lately. Plus, the current line of MacBook Pros ship with 4GB, so I’m just trying to stay current.

PowerBook G4/MacBook/MacBook Pro not joining...
I thought I was the only one with this problem, but a customer came in and had the same problem.
I have a wireless network with WPA2 encryption. My MacBook Pro running 10.6.x was running fine, but my PowerBook G4 running 10.5.5 kept forgetting the preferred network. Even though it was saved, every time the PowerBook would shut down or sleep, the network would have to be joined again manually.

I like Tumblr a lot better than Wordpress.
Personal opinion.
Steve Wozniak is the man →
“He said he conducted his own tests of Prius acceleration, taking his car to an open stretch of highway at dusk and then incrementally notching up the speed using the cruise control mechanism. ‘I wanted to see how high it would go,’ Wozniak said.”

CDs
I was asked to make copies of 100 audio CDs for my place of work. At first I thought, “Oh jeez, this is going to take weeks.” Luckily though, only about 3 minutes of audio was going onto each disc. Somehow I finished the lot of them in the free time I had away from studying for midterms….
Moral of the story: A lot can be said for 48x compact discs.

I constantly wonder how Google Analytics is free.
It’s incredible how I can even get the town from which my site was accessed.
Apple Keynote > MS PowerPoint
Dropbox is amazing.
Two GB of free cloud storage? Integrated seamlessly into my Finder? Yes please!
Get this- there is even an iPhone app (and BlackBerry program) that allows you to access your files!
50 GB is $99/year and 100 GB is $199/year.
Interestingly enough, I just tried to access Apple’s “Me” website to see how much they charge for a very similar service. This is what I got:

After only a few days with Flash
I’m already a hater of bitmap images. Here is one possible finished model of the cartoon of myself:
It looks a lot better not on the web, and still needs a lot of work.
Adobe Flash
I was inspired by my Multimedia lesson today on how to trace over a bitmap image in Flash. This is my current progress after a couple minutes :
Having a graphics tablet makes a WORLD of a difference. I can already tell the face is going to be extremely difficult. Luckily, this is just a “for-fun” project and I have no deadlines.
In the end, I’m looking to wind up with a...

This blog and CSS
I effectively applied a CSS rule affecting ordered lists to this blog. I think it looks a lot better, it’s easier to tell where each blog entry begins and ends. The blog entries are being imported from the blogging site, Tumblr.
Search Engine Optimization
I’m currently working on making my website (http://marcusdietz.com) the number 1 result on multiple search engines. This blog remains the top hit when you search my first and last names in Yahoo! With Bing and Google, I’m doing fairly well, though my goal is to come up in the top with just my first name. I’ve submitting my site to Digg and StumbleUpon in attempts to get more...

The Apple iPad
is a big letdown for me, personally. I was hoping for a fully interactive MacBook Pro-caliber slate PC.
While I am definitely not going to be purchasing an iPad, I did come across two things of interest- 1.) Mac OS X on a Dell netbook, and 2.) A company called Axiotron sells pretty cool tablets of just what I mentioned I wish the iPad were. They are a bit pricey, though.
There is a program in...

How to make ringtones (and send them for free)...
First, download Audio Hijack Pro. This program is shareware, which means that for free, we don’t have use of all its features. For our purposes, however, it will suffice.
Next, navigate to the “Recording” pane in the program. Choose “Custom…”
Make your settings as shown, or similar.
Remember, the maximum ringtone is length is 30 seconds. The better...

How to Download MP3s and more with LimeWire (or...
Before you read this article, just replace LimeWire with FrostWire, which looks exactly the same but is open source.
Remember the old Napster? Of course you do. How can anyone forget the massive music download free-for-all of the the late nineteen-ninety’s? But it’s a different world now, isn’t it? Nowadays Napster is a second-rate web based music store and iTunes is the king of...
